At the gym

the other day I was listening in to The Weakest Link.

Anne asked some guy which cartoon rodent was shown when BBC television resumed transmission after the second world war. He thought about this before giving his considered answer..."Roland Rat."

I nearly fell off the treadclimber.

One of my best friends won the Weakest Link once. We are very proud of her.

N.B. On June 7, 1946, the BBC Television Service re-opened with another official ceremony, followed by Margot Fonteyn dancing, David Low drawing, and Leslie Mitchell introducing a variety show. That same Mickey Mouse cartoon, which had so suddenly closed down television on the eve of the war, was shown again. And viewers were taken over for a preview from the cameras already stationed on the Mall in readiness for the next day’s great procession.

Are you sure these "treadclimbers" are safe? You could do yourself an injury on one - then you'll not be so fit after all will you? Ey? Ey? Armchairs are much safer.

It never ceases to amaze me just how little history people have in their mental lockers.

The good thing about said programme is that surely the contestant got the ridicule he deserved c/o Ms Robinson?

Plus, Roland Rat wasn't even a cartoon!

At least he got the type of animal correct.

I can't watch that programme anymore. The contestants irritate me and Anne has become a parody of herself.

YP- safer than step aerobic classes as I know to my cost.

Steve - I'm with you all the way on that one. I wonder if he even knew when World War 2 actually ended. Maybe he thought it was around the same time that Breakfast TV was launched?

Trousers - for once I hope Ms Robinson really did heap the appropriate amount of scorn on him.

Joe - yes, looking for the positives!

Karen, it is her face lifts that scare me.
