Now this

Is truly remarkable.

Wow! What an amazing response by over a thousand schools all falling over themselves to apply for Academy Status.

Even more remarkable given that the letters from Michael Gove didn't go out until Wednesday 26th May, therefore if posted first class arriving on Thursday, which was precisely one whole day before schools across the country broke up for half term.

Now, as a school governor I can't help but think that if we were invited to apply for Academy Status we would (call me old fashioned) discuss it as governors first. Are we to believe that so many schools not only managed to convene a governor's meeting that took place either Thursday or Friday last week (most of us are quite busty* people you know - some notice is usually appreciated)and still leave enough time to reach the major decision to apply - not to mention making the application itself?

Yes right.

Pull the other one Michael Gove.

* Ooops! Not corrected at Lisa's request :-)

Yes, I quite agree it's pretty awful to think so many schools just went for this shoddy idea without consultation.

But hey, that's what this is all about.

BTW you said most of us are quite busty people you know

Please do not change this line! It made me laugh like a drain (not least because whilst I'm busy I'm definitely not... 'busty'

I loved that line, too! LOL! Being a busty (but not busy) person myself, I suppose I would!

You're right. It's unlikely they managed to convene Governors' meetings and get a concensus in such short order, but there you go. Democracy in this country died a long time ago, if you ask me.

I wonder if Slimy Gove has been CRB checked as I saw footage of him reading to small children in a primary school. If I still had small children I wouldn't want them anywhere near that guy. Academy status? What a load of tosh! Schools should continue to be meshed together under local authorities' overarching responsibility. I'm even more glad I'm out of education now.

As with all politicians, policy is just an achievement substitute. They're there to switch all the lights to green but are long gone before the inevitable car crash.

Hi Lisa - OH MY GOD!!! I am such an idiot! But glad it made you laugh! Whether or not I am in fact a busty person I will have to leave to others to judge :-)

Hiya busty Jay! I don't know why politicians expect us to swallow such obvious nonsense I really don't.

YP - you SO picked the right time to quit teaching. And god yes - Slimy Gove is such an apt description of him.

Hello SP! Nice to hear from you! And a very accurate comment too.
